Panthers Golf Tournament a success

KITCHENER, Ont.- It was a beautiful day at New Dundee golf course for the Kitchener Panthers Golf Tournament Saturday August 28th. Announced at the reception at Fat Cats were the award winners for the golf scramble:

The Phil Mickelson Award for effort and sportsmanship - Tyler Wilson

Closest to the pin - James Blumenauer

Longest drive - Pete Molloy

Lowest score (team) - Mat Taube, Roland Taube, Ryan Taube, Karen Marshall

Best dressed - Jeff and Ali Pietraszko

Best dressed (honourable mention) - Luke Baker, Gerard Magennis, Oliver Quesnel, Mike Swi

Most honest - Rick MacLaughlin, Tyler MacLaughlin, Jeff Hallet, Marc Hallet

2010 New Era All-Star Classic

KITCHENER, Ont.- Mat Taube, Jeff Pietraszko, and Mike Glinka will represent the Kitchener Panthers at the 2010 inaugural New Era All-Star Classic.
 
The IBL New Era All-Stars (different than the 2010 IBL All-Stars and award winners), will compete against the Senior Elite Baseball League (LBSEQ) All-Stars from Quebec in a four game series over two weekends.
 
The first two games will be played Saturday August 21 (7pm) and Sunday August 22 (2pm) at Ottawa Stadium in Ottawa. The second two games will be played at the Stade des Caisses Desjardins in Thetford Mines, Quebec over Labour Day weekend - Saturday September 4 (7pm) and Sunday September 5 (2pm).

OF Luke Baker and MGR Brian Bishop voted IBL 2nd team All-Stars

KITCHENER, Ont.- Left-fielder Luke Baker and field manager Brian Bishop have been voted in as 2010 Inter County All-Stars.

Baker finished with a .364 batting average, good for third overall in the league with 39 hits (6 doubles, 2 triples, and 2 homeruns), 21 runs, and 15 RBIs in 107 at bats. In the play offs he batted .313.

This is Bishop's fourth season with the Panthers, and he was also named first team All-Star manager in 2007.

Ryan Spataro of the Barrie Baycats was named Most Valuable Player, while Andy St. Gelais of the London Majors earned Rookie of the Year honours.
